Does anyone in the Southwest Fla area know how to use a Briot Scanform-6000 (Lens Cutter). And if so what would you charge me to teach me how to use one?
My email is b101875@aol.com
Thanks Ed
PS, Briot wants to much to come down and teach.

You don't have an operators manual??
I do but of course it was written in Frence and than translated into English. In the past I have used the Accura and the Alta. This one just stomps me.
Hi all, my first post here! I've just been dropped in the deep end with some old kit, ie a Briot Scanform 6000, it has no user manual! Does anyone have such a thing, ideally in PDF for emailing?
(sorry - couldn't help myself)
I do apologise, I forgot we're divided by a common language, i,e American English and British English. I should have given more thought to the expression I used when trying to convey my frustration. Obviously I meant I was in a difficult situation, and was asking for help, it a shame the first reply so misunderstood my intent.

Sorry (again), I didn't misunderstand at all. I was just making a joke.
I was actually thinking of the Briot 5000, which would have to be well over 20 years old, and edger technology has advanced over the last 20 years in a manner similar to computer technology from 1975-1995. I'm not sure of the age of the 6000. Briot went a bit underground in the early 90's in the US when something bad happened to Universal Photonics, the distributor.
I worked with the 5000, two careers ago. It was something of a groundbreaker, but the floating head bevel control (or lack thereof) vitiated the value of the machine's "patternless-ness."
I doubt that the 6000 would be able to interact with a computer system, if you need that; I'm pretty sure it was pre-OMA standard. We supported Briot's proprietary interface in RxCalc, a software product obsoleted almost 15 years ago, but chose not to implement the interface in Innovations because circa 2000, hardly anyone was buying new Briot machines in the US.
Of course, the Scanform is usable as a standalone pair of devices. You do have the tracer/blocker as well as the edger, right?

Hi martincraig74,
Give me you email and I can send you a user and service manual for this machine ! :)))
Thanks freeway, I did managed to find a PDF of the service manual but it didn't have any operator instructions that I could find, which is what I was after. I did figure out the Scanform-6000's basic functionality, I think! It is a fairly simple machine by today’s standards, from what I have seen watching various Youtube videos of more modern kit.
Shanbaum, sorry for the tart reply to your post, I was pretty frustrated at that point I read it, and found it difficult to see the joke.
Sorry to bump up an old thread, but did anyone manage to get a service manual for the Briot Scanform 6000? I have recently been having some issues with mine and since I bought the machine second hand, there is no manual. Many thanks
