    linberg hole parameters

I have to do lenses for a patient with a linberg frame. I have a nidek me 1000 to drill the holes. I wonder if someone would be so kind as to help me with hole size etc. There is no linberg dealer here, she bought them out of town. As well what glue is best.

    thanks in advance

There are three different Lindberg drill mounts. "Spirit" , "Air Titanium" , and "3star". Do you know which it is?

Spirit holes are 1.10 mm diameter. 2.43 mm height. We drill ours at 0.0 angle. You can draw them on the "hole" page of the blocker to where you think the temple and bridge would look best. Or I could also e-mail you a PDF of Lindberg's drill chart.

Lindbergs also have to chamfered on the edges at 45 degrees of the notch to prevent chipping, and then the frame is mounted with special glue. The glue is designed to be UV cured so it can also be removed with special glue remover. Technically, you drill two holes on each end with one bit, and then use another routing bit to join them in the channel but many people fudge this step. To do it well, your drill needs to able travel latterally with the bit inside the lens.

Lindberg recommends 1.60 MR-8 resin over Trivex.

Practice first on a few junk lenses, its tricky. Good luck, because if you can do Lindberg you can do anything.
