    Big Smile Hard Coat Varnish / Lacquer

    Hi to all! Do anyone of you guys know a good Hard Coat Varnish/Lacquer from SDC Technologies? We've heard that the company has a pretty good reputation in the field. We just want some recommendations from you guys (specially who have experienced using SDC products) which particular Hard Coat Varnish/Lacquer is good. Basically, what we are looking for is Non-Tintable Hard Coat for 1.50 index.

    Salaam Yousuf! Now that I know who you are, I think you could be interested to know that we are also able to manufacture the 1.5 NT similar to SDC's (all process parameters remain the same), with all equal properties except for two things:
    1) better QUV resistance;
    2) 30% cheaper...
    I guess that both these points could raise some interest within your company...

    hi,we are using PDR199X2 FOR 1.5.It is a good lacquer with good adhesion.The thickness obtainred is little bit less 1.8-2 micron.So,if you want to get good cosmetics the lenses should be pretty clean.

    Of course, you need to put clean lenses in the HC machine...which is not a cleaning process but an etching one...problem is that most of the machines on the market have poor rinsing capabilities, since they are using tap water without heating and without ultrasonics. Since the DI water is unable to rinse surfactants, the surfactant that is needed for a good etching is generally rinsed off by the lacquer solvent and this is creating a contamination issue...the consequence is a shorter pot life for the lacquer! Question: since many machine manufacturers are also selling lacquers...did they know about this? in that case, this is not so honest from their side...or if they didn't know, you shouldn't trust them either because this is 'obvious science' and in that case, they are proving that they simply don't know anything about what they are doing!
