    Bifunctional core–shell–corona particles that bore both fluorinated units and hydroxyl groups in the corona were synthesized. The core particles were prepared from monomer methyl methacrylate (MMA) and cross-linker ethylene glycol dimethacrylate (EGDMA). More interestingly, the hydroxyl groups in the particle coronas could be used to bond with an epoxy glue, which adhered to glass substrate, to yield a “permanent” amphiphobic coating.

    Here Ed you got it all..................................go into your basement and mix it up with the clear epoxy glue and you will be able to protect your snowtires in Winnipeg from scratching from the sand used and getting wet when it get's above freezing......................they do not use salt there, not even for cooking
