Thes complaints are usually caused by POW. Check panto, faceform and vertex. Also seg height. If none of the adjustments help and you have trial lenses hold one in front of glasses to see if that helps to neutalize astigmatism . If so, refer to the DR.

With new cyl especially, fit it as close as you can and you may fix the problem just with that.

When I get a new pair of spectacles in for myself, I usually just put them on, don't inspect, don't adjust and mess with them only if there's a problem.
Once upon a time I got some new spectacles with top of the line progressives and wore them. I went to the hospital which has separate building for parking and hospital stuff. Between the buildings is a walk-way with bricks. On leaving the parking garage, I wondered why they had lain the bricks out in a straight line on the edges and a U shape in the middle. Then I turned 90 degrees, I found that the bricks still appeared to be lain out in the same manner. I took the temples and raised them (increaseing panto) and soon everything was in a straight line. Check your pantosocopic angle, how the patient holds his head when errect, and seg. hts. One of these is probably the solution to your problem.
Don't blame the lens or the patient except as a last resort. I have found most of the problems in life were as Jimmy Buffet says: "But I know it's own damn fault."

There is not enough information here to help you fully.

Please post both RX's, old and new, with both frame measurments, and both models of the lenses.

Of course one could completely eliminate PAL distortion by not using a PAL.

That is the solution I practise................having a few that are worn only rarely for esthetic reason. I love to see a large part of my desk without any distortion using large FTs. Funny the distortion on the PALs usually disapears at a cocktail party after the 3rd scotch.
