Right? You need the blue up top and the rose below. The ladies down in South Carolina love it- they feel it is a good replacement for eyeshadow and blush.

She already has the suns. That's what we based this pair on! Not blue/rose fade though. More of and Arizona Sunset Grad.

I actually would love it! Because all these big Ess/Nk labs can't do it efficiently!
Joke: one lab broke 10 pair of lenses on one rimless. ( It is a true story, I can't figure out how)

I believe this shape is the old Athens shape. I have processed a few hundred of them at Multi-Facets. Unless you have someone that is good on a hand edger and an old Triple-D polisher by AIT, there are only 2 edgers that could do a good job, the Helix and MEI should be able to handle it correctly. And next year the "Shape" by Optek will also handle the job. Look for labs that use this equipment and know how to program the edgers correctly.

When I owned Multi-Facets Labs, I had a lot of "I Don't Like Facets" and " I would Never Sell Them" conversations at trade shows. And I have never understood limiting your options with this attitude.
Look at it from another angle (and my response at the trade shows):

1) You have a patient that WANTS to pay about Double the amount of a regular job.
2) They are a walking advertisement for your office.
3) They LOVE their Facets and will not get anything else

After asking those questions, the usual response is "I guess I never looked at it that way"

I would want to find out how to do them correctly, or find someone that would do the job for me. And try to get more of the same type of customer.

With the improvements in Frames Materials, Mounting Systems and Lens Materials why not show and sell value added Lens Details? The new Milling Edgers that labs are starting to use allow the same type or even more options than I offered at Multi-Facets Labs. And you do not have to limit Lens Detailing to just Drill Mounted Eyewear.

The ME 1200 can do it :) The operator just has to have the know how to tell the machine what to do.

I've made a couple of these, always completely by hand. The first was done in Polycarbonate, and was an absolute nightmare. Because of the material structure, I couldn't get it to polish up neatly and take out the chamfer lines. The second one (see attached) was done in 1.6 MR8, and I am STILL proud of having done it on a Nidek (Santinelli) 9000 and a hand edger!!

I worked with Santinelli when they had only the ME-1000, and yes, it could do a Facet. But the points that the programing allowed the system to place a facet only extended to the lens edges. What this means is that any facet like the one pictured could not be duplicated exactly.
Look at the Facet pictures, the full thickness of the Facet extends to the side edges and while this job is a little sloppy and rounds the junctions, it still continues the general thickness. With the ME-1000, the Facet tapers down to each side edge. So the look of the facet would be distinct and individual facets not the combined look wanted. I know this because I was part of a discussion with the Design Engineer at one of NY Vision Expo's on this subject.
My question would be, has the programing limits been upgraded on the ME-1000, or, does the ME-1200 have different programing to allow continuous junctions to be programed.

Tom's job is a much better example of a good facet. View each lens side junction, they all are sharp and straight. Great Job!!!

And I always hated doing Poly. My lens of choice is Trivex then 1.60 or 1.67, followed by CR-39 if the job is mounted on a Sleeve type frame. However, I am interested in trying the new Hi-Vex lens to see how that will work.

OK, OK, I just had to post these pics here again. This is one I did for a friend to duplicate his old Tura facets I originally did for him 20 years ago or so. I updated it to use compression mounts.And Trivex lenses.
