    Wrap RX Adaptation

What is the best way to explain to a customer prior to pick up on what to expect when they pick up
    there RX sunglasses.

Say for example -3.00 OU 8 Base Sun

How long would you tell them to try the RX and what should you tell the px to expect and how they would compare to their eyeglasses.

I tell them that, because of the curved lenses, every wrap has a certain amount of "fishbowl" perspective/feeling, which is somewhat more apparent when you first get them (your vision system generally has no experience with this effect), and that it is somewhat exagerated initially by rapid head movement.

"Don't worry, you'll get used to it."

Also depends on the amount of wrap, and/or the Rx power, as well as the individual.

Think of wrap eyewears as being the antithesis of the old, Dr.'s Rx notation: "Match base curve."

Thank you for the reply, some people don't have the patience to wait, they want instant adaptation.

Or, you can sell them wrap compensated lenses and have have "instant adaptation." Usually.
There are rules. Knowing those are easy. There are exceptions to the rules. Knowing those are easy. Knowing when to use them is slightly less easy. There are exceptions to the exceptions. Knowing those is a little more tricky, and know when to use those is even more so. Our industry is FULL of all of the above.

Anytime I sell glasses with a 8 or more base because of the "wrap" I do explain to patients what that means...I also try to use a lab that will compensate for the wrap. Pech lab in Iowa does a great job and if you need a VSP approved lab they are.
