high order aberrations , and their negative effects on human eye

    sirs
i live and work in one of so called developing countries . in my country , the traditional lenses that are imported from old Chinese factories , are still available and sold . rarely you can find a lab that provides free-form manufactured lenses .
i understand well that free form has corrected - to a great deal - high order aberrations . but i need to know if there are bad or negative effects on the eye , from being exhausted due to wearing these old fashioned lenses (not made by free form) and that are still suffering from a great deal of high order aberrations ...!
can any specialized nerd here list these negative effects ?
    thanks in advance

All freeform is not the same, however in general they are a more precise lens more custom made with less distortion. You can contact Scope Optics located in Cairo as they produce freeform lenses in Egypt. I know the designs they offer are good freeform design and these will offer better vision to your patients without any negative results.

As Salamu Alaykum Safeir and welcome to Optiboard!

You may want to use the search function under "High order aberrations" and read some of the many discussions we have had over the years to answer your question which you will see has answers that do not always agree!

As I understand it from a seminar at VEW, standard eyewear lenses...especially if they are overly flat and considerably depart from CC Best Form, may actually *introduce/compound* HOAs. Some claims of reducing HOAs by some lens/implant companies are really comparatives, and therefore are not really reducing HOAS, but rather reducing the HOAs standard lenses can introduce to the lens/eye system.

    FWIW. Makes sense.
