    AR Stripper Needed

Looking for a new AR Stripper to be used in office lab. Used to use DuraTech Lightening stripper however, company must have gone out of business? Any ideas?

Brain Power Incorprated in Miami, Fla. has what you need.It is easy to use, and basically harmless with a little care. It will strip A/R off of cr-39, poly and hi-index. Opening an account is mandatory and the price is reasinable. Getting the complete starter kit is advisable, (msds sheets). and therafter only a refill bottle is needed. Works good...saves $...Telephone 1-800-327-2250...good people to deal with.

Does it damage any lens materials?

    Chip,
I have used this particular solution for several years, and never had any problems....if you leave lenses in solution too long, it will take off the scratch coating also. But I find it saves money and is a quick answer to customer service situations.

    Confused

Do NOT use any Ar stripper on glass lenses, the acid in it will etch
and fog glass lenses. Also, take care to use splash precautions, rubber gloves or tongs to prevent exposure to skin. The acid in this and other Ar strippers is caustic enough to cause burns if left on the skin long enough.

Have had few problems using it on most "plastic" materials. Just
as a precaution, you might advise customers who want their ar
coating removed that some scratch coatings beneath the ar can
melt and render the lens useless.

We must be making progress...it never used to stay on long enuf to worry about stripping! As one wag noted, one doesn't BUY AR coatings; you RENT them.

    Just kidding.
