ALL OPTIBOARDERS!If you value your license-Send the Governor of Alaska a message!!

I am told there is a bill in Alaska which has passed in the House and currently in the State Senate which will severely affect licensing in that State. It is an assault on the optical profession which will have repercussions, not only in Alaska, but down here as well.

The complete story as well as the bill particulars can be found in the Education and Professional Organisation forum
    http://www.optiboard.com/forums/show...&threadid=4630

I have heard a lot of lip service paid to the fact we Opticians are powerless to do anything to change our lot.You are not powerless now.You have the ability to contact the man who can veto this law, should it pass. You may contact him at the address below and urge him to veto this bill
    Senate Bill 270 (L&C)

    http://www.gov.state.ak.us/emailform.html

I would urge you all to write, and to contact your friends in the industry to do the same.

When the dust settles on this one lets discuss where this might possibly have come from, and what can be done to prevent the SOB's from doing it again. For now just send the email!

    If you have friends online.....

Hey Mudslide, thanks for the encouragement! If you have friends online in the biz, send them this page so they can voice why they think their license is worthwhile. If suddenly the governor's office starts hearing from different parts of the country, or ideed the world....someone's got to notice!
    Thanks again

    Hey gang.....

    I sent mine, send yours!

Which reminds me of the pastor who was urging his congregation to increase their pledge for the new building when he said: " I have upped my pledge, up yours"

Thumbs up To some on this board talk is cheap

but those of us who participate in sending this letter are putting our words where they do the most good. I applaud all who have sent a letter to the govenor of Alaska concerning this matter! I sent mine yesterday and I hope to hear good news of the outcome. I hope the govenor of Alaska comes to Optiboard and reads the threads concerning this "non consumer" change in the state of Alaska's dispensing law.

Send a letter now. Harry has made it easy to click on the site and send off the letter.

Thumbs up I got a reply today, here it is:

Thank you for writing to Governor Tony Knowles. I have routed your
message to the appropriate person in the Office of the Governor who
is most knowledgeable about this issue. Your ideas, concerns, and
recommendations are valuable to us, and we appreciate that you have
taken the time to write. Again, thank you.
