    Problems tinting 1.67 lenses

I am having issues in my lab with tinting stock 1.67 Pentax lenses. The colors (particularly gray) are not coming out right, the gray comes out blue. We try to balance out the color by dipping it in other colors, but it seems that they won't take anymore tint at that point. We use Phantom tints, I tried BPI tints and addiatives and different temperatures, but nothing seems to work. Any suggestions??

MicroTints will do your high index lenses in 4 to 8 minutes in most cases and if you learned which color to use and you also get perfect grey's and browns.

check it out at: http://optochemicals.com ------------------> and scroll down the main page to MicroTints and you will find lots of links giving you all the answers you are looking for.

I prefer to stick with conventional tinting methods. The lenses do have the tintable hard coat.

I have experienced the same problem with pentax 1.67 stock lenses. We have also tried using different dyes and tempatures. Seiko stock lenses tint nicely.

I find putting the lens in nuetralizer for about 15 seconds then rinse in the hot water pan then immediately into desired tint works well , especially for better density
