    Crizal Vs Teflon CC

I have a pt who was wearing in 2010 the following:
    -1.50-0.25x65
    -1.50sph
    +1.75 add
Varilux Comfort, Trans Brown, Crizal Alize.

We no longer sell varilux so the Pt is now in:
    -1.25-0.50x66
    -1.25 Sph
    +1.75add
Zeiss Reveal, Trans Gray, Teflon CC.

Complaint is the transitions don't get as dark and she is noticing reflection in the lens when at baseball games, however not in low light areas. Both lenses are CR-39 and she is also complaining about reflections around the lens as well(lenses are not polished).

    Any ideas?

If you still have the old lenses, take them outside and compare to the new ones.
I would not blame the A/R. Is it the same frame design? (Tell her not to go to baseball games. Ha!)

You just got to wonder how the heck anyone knows what A/R they are really getting now days. Regardless of what they order.

    Darkness:
    - Is it possible that the gray is simply less noticeable due to neutral colorization compared to brown?
    - I bet it's hot in Florida these days; seems to me that Transitions are somewhat heat-sensitive. Less darkening on very hot days, more on extremely cold days?
    Reflection:
    - I'd check panto and face wrap.
    - If she's only experiencing it 'at ballgames'. I'm guessing her kid's game? If so, could the lower evening sun be a culprit? Does she experience the same thing mid-day?

I also like the idea of checking them side by side; people's perceptions are sometimes quite different from reality (can't tell you how many times I've had to call patients in so I could take them outside to see what they somehow couldn't see on their own ).

Good point on the face form and panto. Didn't think to check that one. It is very warm so I am going back to brown and I did keep the old lenses so I can show her a side by side. But it is the same frame.

You would be correct about the kids ball games. My guess is she isn't having this problem anywhere else and maybe she didn't even notice it before.

You could try temporarily darkening or blackening the edges and have her try this at a ball game. If it went away you know the problem.

Two things come up as possibilities, IMO, and that is: Less minus creates a flatter radius on the back side of the lens, and, two.... there is probably a difference in prism-thinning between the two brands.
