What's better: COA or CPO certifications?

What is the difference between the COA and the CPO certifications? If I were to only get one, which one would be more beneficial in terms of getting a job?
I was going to get my CPO and probably still will, but am leaning toward the COA, as that seems to be more in demand.

    Thoughts??

    Thanks!

You may do better posting this question on OD Wire instead.
Since what you are really asking is which certification makes it more likely that I will find meaningful employment.
Why not ask the OD and O-MDs around where you want to work as well.
Look for blogs that cater to the docs.
This site caters to opticians and ECPs who don't really have all that much to do with COA or CPO except working in the same building.

And don't get me started on the health care thing again!

I would say COA. I have my COA and from seeing what CPO's do it seems there almost the same thing. Just my 2 cents

It depends on where/ who you want to work for. Most OD offices prefer CPO as this offers training in front desk, technician, and some optical skills. The CPO is sponsered by the AOA. For O-MD's they will want a COA which focuses more on the technician role. The COA is sponsered by JCAHPO. If you really want all of your basis covered go for the COA and follow-up with your ABO and NCLE.
If you have a particular employer you are looking for employment with I would contact them and see which certification they prefer.
