Good Luck to both you and your father.
Good Luck to both you and your father.
I have been hoping to provide you all with some updates. Unfortunately, he has been in ICU in Winnipeg for over three weeks now. Just a very slow progression.
Best wishes for comfort and recovery!!
Don"t give up hope just yet. It may take time but some of his everyday living skills and personality may return. As the swelling and blood disapates he will improve. Sounds likethey got to him just in time. I will pray for your Father and your family and of course you for Gods direction in your lives concerning decisions to be made.
God Bless Ginny
Father may be flown home tomorrow
this is wonderful and encouraging news!!!
He is back in town. He arrived Monday. They had him in ICU. They have removed his tranch and trying to get him to eat orally. They had him taking a few steps and using the bathroom.
He looks good, can talk with assistance, but his memory is blurry.
They have today moved him to a ward.
I think all the prayers from all of us are helping......
Believe it or not, my father's recovery has been remarkable. He had the worst possible brain aneurysm. Right now, his only issue is his short term memory and some heart issues. He is getting better every day, is walking on his own, showering by himself, etc.
As for the business, I am still running it and trying to not get fired by my current job. We have a buyer in place, but it is getting fuzzy now and I am not sure it will get done. I will probably know an answer early next week. If we have to shut down the business and my parents incur the debt from that, then so be it. I cannot go on living like this anymore.
Congratulations on the remarkable recovery, it often puts life in perspective.
@For-Life:
I hope your business deal goes through! Best wishes.
Whenever I feel parental exasperation setting in.....I remind myself of the times they rescued/helped/sacrificed for me. Tell your employer to deal with it!
I should say, my immediate boss has been fantastic. My CEO, on the other hand, has been brutal. When I am taking care of my mother, my father, their employees, the guy buying the business, our customer, etc, I should not have to also take care of my highly paid CEO who makes an enormous amount of money.
For-Life,
Can you not hire an optician for a few month, and try to sell on a wider basis. OptiBoard has lots of lookers in Marketplace and Job Forum. I could let you have a free ad area on my website and for sure many others would too. That could give a huge advertising spread all over.
" Established Thunderbay Ontario, Optical Store for sale"
To hire an optician and keep things going would just add to the stress of the family. Thing is, we are a town 800km away from another major Canadian centre, so a lot of people just do not want to relocate here. I cannot continue to take time off work and hire someone, hope they do a good job and wait for someone to buy the business.
I'm so glad to hear the good news about your father and am sending best wishes for the quick sale of his business. Please make sure that you are also taking care of yourself with all the stress you are experiencing.
Isn't it a shame that at a time when your focus should be entirely on your Dad and his recovery that our world will not permit that? The "world" , in it's business forms, pretends to care but about family and it's vital part in a person's life and well being, really doesn't. I was shocked 20 years ago when I lost my father to a heart attack when the manager of the paint store he had worked at for 25+ years showed up at the funeral to get Dad's keys from my Mom.
ForLife- To you I send hopes of many more days with your "Pop".
