36 years in this and just had a new one. Marchon give me a call:
Marchon Credit Rep on the phone; " Yes sir, I'm calling you about some Nike sneekers you've returned to us."
Me; " Ahhh......What?"
MCR; " Yes sir, some Nike sneekers".
Me; " Is that some new Nike frame line?"
MCR; " No sir, they're tennis shoes."
Me; (Long Pause) " Tennis shoes?"
MCR; "Yes sir, shoes."
Me; (flabergasted) " Why would I send you tennis shoes?"
MRC; " I don't know sir, that's why I'm calling".
Me; " What makes you think we sent them?"
MRC; " Your optical is on the return address, that's how I found you to call".
At this point, I'm speachless. I put her on hold and asked staff members if anyone has returned a pair of tennis shoes through the mail. Nope, in fact when I told them why I asked they all started rolling with laughter, so, I got back on the phone...
Me, back on the phone; " Uh, what color are they?"
MRC; " They are white and black sir."
Me; " Are they used?"
MRC; " No sir, they look brand new".
Me; " You sell Nike, right?"
MRC; " Well, yes sir...."
Me; " Well, I'd like credit for those shoes".
MRC; " We sell Nike frames".
Me; " Oh, I know. How much credit are you going to issue me for the shoes?"
MRC; " Sir, we don't sell Nike shoes."
Me; " What size are these shoes?"
MRC; " Let's see..Size 10."
Me; " Ah, too small. So, how much credit will you be giving me?"
My staff had been hudled around the phone trying to listen to my conversation and couldn't help but start cracking up. When I knew the rep could hear them I let her know I had been pulling her chain. I let her know that this had to be the strangest call I've ever gotten from an optical supplier. She informed me that it was the strangest return they had ever recieved also.
So I told her if you're not gonna give me credit, to just return them to me. When I find out what *friend* set me up on this one, I'm gonna buy him a beer...or punch him!
