    What Do Optical Professionals Wear?

Purely out of curiosity, what lenses do OptiBoarders personally wear? It would be interesting to see what we put ourselves in.

    The poll is multiple choice.

    What do I wear?

Anything that makes me look, feel, and act younger!
I'm the only optician in Seabrook Texas who wears Maui Jim wrap arounds that look so cool on the yachts and have press on +2.75 bifocals on the inside.
    I ain't no fool.
    They'll never know!
Come to think of it....I'm the only optician in Seabrook, TX.!

It surprises me how few put AR coatings on. Or did people not realise you could have two options?

(SVD, CR39, UTMC, titanium frame in case you were wondering)

    Why so few ARC's

These people are opticians, if they use a lensometer, a keratometer, Slit~lamp or radiuscope, the damn AR coating won't last 3 week despite claims to the contrary every year about the new improved version.

We may sell the stuff, but we don't trust it.

Now that Chip mentions it, lensometers are the reason that last pair on my list are now painting glasses. They scratched the ARC. Glad to note that Crizal is fairing much better under normal wear but I don't wear them when I am at anything with an eyepiece anymore. I never could get used to using a lensometer without the little rubber cup up.

Single vision, polycarbonate, AR-coated mounted in a Marchon Air-lock (plus, I usually wear a shirt and pants, shoes, and sometimes even socks).
    ;)

PS- I had LASIK two and half years ago, and yes I still wear -0.50 sph OU. However, I'll take that over -4.75 sph any day of the week!

Interesting, I think most of us presbyopes chose to put SV polarized in our sunglasses. I wonder why we don't bother to wear PAL's in our sunglasses. I know I did at one time (Polarized Grey Poly Outlooks) and just didn't bother this time around.

    Different strokes....etc

I've got new trivex Phoenix lenses in a minimize rimless and its the most comfortable pair I've ever worn-weight and vision. They are so light they blew off my face in a stiff wind at South Station in Boston. We're talking plus 4's with 2 adds.

For sun, Varilux Comforts Nupolar and I have a new pair of Transitions NG Panamics that I don't think a lot of.Comforts are more comfortable.

Well, I have 10 pair in my current Rx but right now my favorite are my Silhouette and my Chloe 3 pieces in Phoenix with HiVision. I have a 3rd pair being done at the lab right now in Phoenix with Zeiss Foundation to see how it compares. Love that Phoenix!! Nice and lightweight with super great optics-when it comes out in Transitions I will have the best of both worlds:D

    Well...,

I wear silk boxers because nothing else will do. Nothing comes between me and my undies :) When I'm in a particularly jaunty mood I wear a little fishnet number that just says "Stud." But then when I'm in just a regular old everyday mood I wear pleated Dockers with a loose, low cut shirt so the babes can see my chest (they seem to like that kind of thing for some reason. ;)

When I'm at home or just out and about I wear less revealing apparel becuase the wife doesn't like it when my clothing is revealing (who's she trying to kid? :) I guess she just doesn't like it out there for all to see or something.

Anyway, those are the secrets of what we male dancers/Opticians wear.

    Tah Tah,

Darris "aka Sergio Von Musclehausen" C. :)

Darris . . . thank heavens you spoke up.

What brand of silk boxers do you wear......
I dunno, but the ones I got just cling in the wrong places.
I do wear a Maui Jim shirt that matches the lens cleaning cloth I got from them....its a smart ensemble.
    And, and, of course.........
The jeans are Calvin Klein for bigger guys, a skosh fuller, sort of like those bowed temples on the frame.
    And, by the way...
Did you notice that its in to wear frames with bowed temples that could sub for an archery set. Man, when I gradidated optical school the prof said never to bow the temples out to make them look like the archery set I gave my kids for Chanukah.
    Now its so.....so...... "chic"!
Well, nuff said aboout the ol undies and outies.
Carry on....hip hip and all that rot.

    Tah tah!

    Big Smile

I have a pair of sv polorized with back side ar in a black zyl frame. They were otc with no brand name. I liked them and thought they were super cool. I have a pair of Fila sunglasses which were also otc...I liked them because they were on a closeout!! LOL!! I also have a pair of sv cr-39 readers in a jordache frame. I hate those. They are my computer gls that I almost never use. I should have had ar put on them but didn't and now I wish I did. I have my eye on several new pair which I will definately put AR on most likely crizal. I love that td2 coating.
