    transition xtractive

any of you used these lenses.... ......"Transitions XTRActive lenses are the newest addition to the Transitions family of lenses. These everyday lenses are designed for wearers who prefer a slight tint indoors and very dark lenses outdoors. Available in grey Transitions XTRActive darken to 10% transmission at 73°F (23°C), and 20% transmission at 95°F (35°C). That means Transitions XTRActive lenses will provide even more visual comfort and sunlight reduction than other Transitions lenses available – especially for patients who spend a lot of time outdoors. Plus, Transitions XTRActive lenses even provide some activation behind the windscreen of a car. Transitions XTRActive lenses block 100% of harmful UVA and UVB rays in both clear and darkened states and provide full UV400 protection.
Available now in Trivex Trilogy, Polycarbonate and 1.67 index in a number of SV and progressive lens options."

They've worked very well and from what I've seen (personally) they work even better with the addition of a premium anti reflective coating. We had one complaint from a very kindly, older lady who said her polycarbonate/transitions extra active weren't dark enough, so we tinted them gray on top of the transitions extra active, making them pitch black practically! She must be happy with them because she never came back to complain after that.

We like them and they are 1/2 of out transitions sales; I am in Florida and the heat does not like regular Transitions.

I just got my first pair of TXA lenses a couple weeks ago (1.67 with Komodo Extreme AR). I'm very pleased with their performance. The residual indoor tint doesn't bother me at all. In my dark tortoise Armani frame, it just looks kind of "rock star." Actually, it looks very much like the residual tint on standard Transitions III used to. It only shades a bit in the car, so I'm still using my polarized suns to drive. But overall I'm very pleased.

I guess we were the test for them before Europe this time, since we got them over a year ago. Here's the original thread on the subject:

There are rules. Knowing those are easy. There are exceptions to the rules. Knowing those are easy. Knowing when to use them is slightly less easy. There are exceptions to the exceptions. Knowing those is a little more tricky, and know when to use those is even more so. Our industry is FULL of all of the above.

Do you still find half of your transitions sales to be Xtractive? Did the Signature 7 lenses change the mix, as they claim to be less temperature sensitive?

We use regular 50 % and now Vantage 25% with Xtractive now 25%.
It is 40% of our clear lenses total.

The Xtractive gets darker than the trans and trans signature. It is an orange when comparing apples to apples.

True but there is less of a difference between VII and Xtra than there use to be between VI and Xtra, which for patients that are on the fence, I've had a good number that go with VII that previously would have gone with Xtra.

    Both great products though.

Personally use them and I love them, all of my eyeglasses have Transitions Xtra active. I swear by them to my patients that are very light sensitive, or need them to transition behind their windshields. It's an all the time 10% tint that's very comfortable indoors. Hope this helps

I always use xtra active for all my older patients who used to wear photogray and for anyone who complains of indoor lights being too bright. I much use more signature 7 on a daily basis.
