Who?
There are rules. Knowing those are easy. There are exceptions to the rules. Knowing those are easy. Knowing when to use them is slightly less easy. There are exceptions to the exceptions. Knowing those is a little more tricky, and know when to use those is even more so. Our industry is FULL of all of the above.
You can fool most of the people some of the time-
Some of the people most of the time-
But you can't fool all of the people all of the time.

I think PT Barnum said: " There's a sucker born every minite." His official biography says he didn't say this but he is often quoted as having done so.
The: "You can fool some of the people all the time, but not all the people all the time" was Abraham Lincon.

I stand corrected- Thanks Chip!
Hadn't heard about the show being cancelled. I just tuned in for the first time when he had author G. Edward Griffin on and talked about his book, "The Creature from Jekyll Island." I found it hard to believe that this was on "mainstream" tv. Good book to read and that particular show was pretty good. I didnt think Beck was nutzo :-/ but I dont particularly like Fox.

One day, someone will come along who will provide fair and balanced news. That day, all of the lefties and the righties will attack him.
Maybe the are going to put him on Public Broadcasting to replace the man who was put on Fox after being fired by PBS.
I never really watched him so all I know is what I have read or seen on the internet. He seemed either totally crazy or like a con man.I was wondering if any one you watched him. Apparently not which is a good thing.
my grandfather has fox news on non stop, about 16 hours a day, except for when my kids are watching sponge bob at his house, so I've seen my fair share of him. he doesn't bother me, but I don't think he should be sprouting off so much religious talk on a news network, even if his show is considered editorial. my understanding is that he is leaving to do more of his stuff in a forum more befitting his on opinion, not that he was fired or cancelled. he tilts a little fair right for me, but he's not anywhere near that crazy "church" that protests the dead soldiers.
I thoroughly enjoyed Jon Stewart's riff on him Thursday night.
Only his television show is leaving. His daily talk show, as well as his tour is still on.
It's funny that EVERYBODY in the country hates this guy and think he's an idiot. Nobody watches him, and yet, when you look at the to top 10 most listened to commercial radio programs, there he is:
Top 10 most popular commercial radio shows in the United States*
Talkers Magazine compiles Arbitron's data, along with other sources, to estimate the minimum weekly audiences of various commercial long-form talk radio shows. NPR also compiles Arbitron's data for its public radio shows and releases analysis through press releases.[Third-party source needed][7][8][9][10]

Of course, most of the others listed are said to be wackos as well. Who's listening, or has the new congress even gone so far as to manipulate the Arbitron ratings as well?
I have never seen Beck's television show. Who in the world watches television at 5:00 PM? I do occasionally listen to his radio show and find the first hour usually humorous, and then he gets whiney and boring. I do listen to Rush (go ahead and flame, I'm a retired teacher, and anything you can throw at me can't be worse than what I've already seen.) and while I believe a lot of what he says, I get tired of hearing the same thing over and over.
I've tried to listen to NPR. I can handle their "ours don't stink attitude", but it seems like they all try to talk through their noses, and nasality real grinds on my ears.
Give me a nice piano concerto any day of the week for the drive home.
Maybe we really ARE near the End Of Times when people believe that flup!

Maybe...I guess. But at what point do you finally start to realize that maybe some of the agendas that are being forced upon the country are just nonsensical? Do you really think the government can run your life better than you can. Look to the (perpetual) welfare class for your answer. They already take advantage of every government program available, and where does it get them?
Who cares where the source of the information is if it is factual? I don't believe everything I hear from everyone. Pick and choose what you want to believe, and from whom you want to believe it.
Rush Limbaugh predicted this more than 6 years ago. I laughed when he said it. I just found this article, and I'm not laughing anymore:

I'm not trying to convince anybody of anything. Laugh about inflation, laugh about concealed carry, laugh about the government controlling your lives. I'm not laughing. (But,I'm also not stocking up on gold, nor buying food insurance!)
How's that flup grab you?:bbg:
Sorry, but you lost credibility with me when you say Rush Limbaugh predicted forced school lunches.

That's OK...really!:bbg: I'm not trying to change anyone's mind, or be credible. Is it really that important to be credible on a chat forum? I have credibility with the people that are important to me in my life, and that's what matters to me.
And remember, I am the ONLY person in the country that listen to any of those guys. I can't for the life of me however, figure out how they get the ratings they do (I know, right wing conspiracy...) when I'm the only gal that tunes in to them. Makes me feel kind of powerful!:bbg:
[QUOTE=Darby;386460] Is it really that important to be credible on a chat forum? QUOTE]
Yes, or be a liar. Anonymity should not affect morality.
[QUOTE=finefocus;386662]To be credible is to inspire belief. If I fail to inspire belief based on which radio programs I listen to, then it does not make me a liar.
And what does anonymity have to do with it? My name is so unique, that some of my colleagues have already recognized me here. No problem, I can deal with that. I have to admit that in your case, I'm not sure if finefocus is you first or last name,"Mr./Mrs. Anonymous."
I'm anonymous, but aspire to credibility. I feel that everything I say here should be as straightforward as if we were face-to-face. Your question spoke to different levels of responsibility in different forums; I don't believe in variability on this subject.
Fear Not fair Darby, you are not alone although you may be in a small minority on Optiboards.
