VSP Rumor?

I've heard a couple of fairly disturbing things about VSP lately... namely:

1: They are doing a "pilot" contract with Costco's optical (ie Costco might be taking VSP patients soon?!)

2: They have switched from nonprofit to profit, and are thus now selling glasses outside of their Docs (and having the private docs dispense glasses sold by VSP) as well as contact lenses (supposedly for less than 1-800 even?).

Are these rumors or ... ?

Anyway, VSP didn't switch on their own to a "for profit corp." It went on for years, VSP and their attorney Ken Starr finally tried to take to the Supreme Court (who refused to hear the case).

We can submit out of network claims with VSP now at Wal-Mart. The patient has to have out of network benefits. We cannot advertise this our VSP will put a stop to it. I can only assume it is the same for Costco.
