Hard to work with Metal Frames

Is it just me or is there a slew of frames out there right now that are deigned by people with no regard to we that have to work with them. One design in particular that drives us crazy is a metal frame where the eyewire appears to be soldered to a metal front making insertion of a plastic lense near impossible without chipping.

Insert it from the back. It just takes a little practice.

These are not a new design unfortunately, but yes, you have to pay attention and be careful. I've been complaining for about 15 years now that frame designers have no concept of what's needed to actually put lenses into their frames.....
There are rules. Knowing those are easy. There are exceptions to the rules. Knowing those are easy. Knowing when to use them is slightly less easy. There are exceptions to the exceptions. Knowing those is a little more tricky, and know when to use those is even more so. Our industry is FULL of all of the above.

I buy the frames for us and I do not get that type of frame, or the semi-rimless versions.

I'm all to familiar with the frame types you are referring to. Sizing must be exact in order to insert and most Rx's must be ground on either a 4 or 5 base to match frame profile. Try hand edgeing slightly at temple side..flatten bevel and this will help with lens clearing frame barrel.

I do hate those mountings and unfortunately I made it known one day that I knew the trick to inserting the lenses. Now they are all mine to do, yay.
