    Crizal NOT easy

Please tell me I'm not the only one dealing with this "new" crap from the big E! The only thing "easy" about their "new" product is the easy $ more they are charging/making for it...BOO on them.

PS if I could find another stock lens w/o poor AR I'd switch.

There are plenty of stock options that are alike or better.

I've noticed a few coming back where it looks as if someone put their fingers on the lens before the AR set but I send them back, they arrive and look fine. WHAT Crizal lens are you doing? I use Avance with Scotchgard and I have had 0 problems with them and the patients love the coating.

For the stock lenses we have been using the Crizal std which they have now switched to Crizal Easy. I like the Crizal Avance SGP and agree with those I have had zero probs.

Jana would you mind PM'ing me some options or suggestions? The problem I have ran into in the past with "in house" AR is that even with a 1 yr warranty most seem to craze very easily and I saw the pts come back unhappy. At least with the crizal I didn't have to worry about it. with the new "Easy" lens its creating an extra step of cleaning and its costing me more.

Seiko/Pentax's stock A/R is also excellent.
There are rules. Knowing those are easy. There are exceptions to the rules. Knowing those are easy. Knowing when to use them is slightly less easy. There are exceptions to the exceptions. Knowing those is a little more tricky, and know when to use those is even more so. Our industry is FULL of all of the above.

I would never pay the price to get an official Crizal coating!! We use SOMO for high index stock and Hoya for trivex with AR- they work great at 1/2 the price with less than 1% returns for any reason.
Our surfaced coating is the no-name from Pech Optical and again they have less than 1% returns on all coatings. It makes no difference what you pay for it, it is all in the process.

When we get returns over 1% we will look at spending 2x+ on my coatings!!!!

As long as returns aren't the be all, end all you are looking at. I don't do my own lab work, but when it comes to buying product, I've learned that products that were working "just as well," in terms of returns, were really just performing so poorly patients wouldn't come back in.

I'm thinking of using Stainless on photochromic (PGX) glass lenses. Also under consideration is Essilor's Crizal Alize and Zeiss' Carat Advantage or Super ET and HOYA's EX3.

Why do you like Stainless so much and do you think it'll shine for this application? How is iCoat's lab services in terms of coating your own uncut finished lens stock and then edging and mounting in terms of their edging equipment, technical competence and procedure overall versus, say, Zeiss?
