I've had trouble with the slick coatings, tried hairspray, surface saver tape, adjusting chuck pressure, seems like I tried everything. I clean the front really good, use a "riki" pad, a good quality blocking pad, blocks that match base curve and crossing your fingers helps sometimes also.
Putting a pad on the back of the lens helps, too.

Make sure you're waiting 15 minutes after blocking before you edge the lenses. The newer pads, such as secure edge plus, require a wait time for the adhesion to work best.
The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten.
Don't use Oleo, the lens is afraid of it.

. . .and an optician who is afraid of an oleo coated lens is an oleophobe!

I've noticed the best results when I've cleaned the surface of the lens well and applied a 'riki tape' style pad directly to the lens before the standard blocking. It causes a fuss with the layout on the edger and we have to lay it out manually. Still my preferred for poly and trivex. The 1712N from 3m works near perfect for everything else. Not to be confused with the 1712NR.
The easiest way to have NO problem with the oleo phobic slick coat, no lenses that turn off axis or center to 100% is the following:
Order your lenses without the slick coat. You are probably saving a bundle of $, cut them properly on your edger and finish them ready to mount into frame.
As the last operation you dip the lenses into the "OMS SUPER HYDROPHOBIC" solution, and then mount into frame. Lenses are now exactly as if you would have ordered them from your preferred lab. Lots of frustration and $$$$$$$$$$ saved by doing it this way.
The cost of 1 L bottle will do about 100 pairs of lenses with the additional benefit of anti stat and anti fog protection.

Hmmmmm. Not only is this a slightly stagnant thread, but slightly irrelevant re: Computers and Software Help.
