Anybody have any real experience with the new Varilux DRx?
No, but the old Comfort DRx was a cast lens -- 1.56 index -- and after trying them a few times, I learned to hate them. I attended a presentation by an Essilor Rep, and she said the new DRx lens is a backside freeform lens. But I'm not sure she knows what she's talking about.
What's different about the DRx compared to other lenses in the Varilux platform?

DRx is the Varilux fully backside offering, it's better than the molded version but not as refined as the Enhanced versions. From the feedback so far this holds true it is a mid tier lens.

Its interesting the the DRx was launched at about the same time the Ideal disappeared. Coincidence? I don't think so. Rebranded Ideal.
I'm surprised that Essilor would use a backside only freeform, after touting how good their dual sided progressives are over the competitions' backside FF only.
The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten.
