Std. Trivex has a refractive index of 1.53, "hi-vex" has an index of refraction of 1.56. I don't see what the fuss is about.

I'm also not too impressed about the .03 higher index, and it's greater density. Unless it's way cheaper than Trivex. Let's see how their 1.60 version does.
But... I have been intensely suffering from electromagnetic waves making it through my lenses.

Not a big deal...but evolutionary improvement. The ABBE of Hivex is 46 vs. Trivex's 43. Thinner than Trivex, better ABBE than Trivex, cheaper than Trivex. 3 out 3 aint bad if you ask me.

Does this material come from Conant ?? They've had a HI-vex on their books for awhile. Not sure if they actually manufacture the product.

Hello Chris, to your question, yes HIVEX is a Conant product.

We used to use 1.56 lenses though a little internal lab with a chain I used to work at... We'd never use them in nylor or drill mounts because it was about as strong as biscuits (and only 1/3 as tasty :shiner: ) Maybe it was just a bad recipe though

The older 1.56 is very brittle, so yea, don't drill 'em. This is completely different.
