    Confused small advice

Is there any problem in ordering progessive lens with different addition if the pacient need is this one:
    OD:-0,50sf + 1,75add

    OS: -0,50 cyl ax 178 + 1,50 add

Should i make it with the same addition (+1,75).
    thank you in advance

Most progressive lens designs vary depending on base curve and Add power. It would be best to use the same Add power in both eyes for the best binocular vision. Segmented multifocals or a single vision pair for near only should be considered.

    Conjecture...

If you must use a PAL, I believe that it would be best to use the stronger Add for both eyes, assuming that the left eye will learn to accommodate less. If the accommodative reflex doesn't work that way (on/off only), and if there are frequent and extended periods of close tasks, then one might tinker with the distance Rx, bumping the left +.25 or +.12.

Speaking from experience....if this person has not "experienced" this particular distance refraction, previously, the accommodative capability of the O.D. may be temporary, thus creating the difference in add. I would suggest that you make them the same. If the distance refraction has been worn previously, then dissimilar adds should be used.

I have fit many a progressive with different add powers, no problems or come-backs. Patients needed the power difference and it worked for them. However, it was never more than .50 difference.

She came back and cannot read out of them.

    Went back to Dr.

They changed the distance a bit and made both adds a 2.00
