This will be my 3rd time taking both test :(. I keep failing and i really want to finally pass these 2 test. I don't feel like i ever have the right material to study with. I'm new to this board so i would greatly appreciate the help. I would just like to know what material should i use to study for both the ABO and NCLE that would get me to pass finally. Thanks in advance guys

Contact the National Academy of Opticianry. www.nao.org or 800-229-4828.

Basic Opticians Tutorial follows the job analysis for the test.

Getting Back to the Basics for Contact Lens Technicians follows the job analysis for the test.

Hi! I passed the ABO last november. I used the flash cards from optiprofessor.com It really helped me because I had 3 big thick books but only the flash cards telsl you what you know so you stop waisting time studying what you already learned. It comes with a real test example, questions and answers, really easy to understand. Plus, there is a e-mail you can write to and ask questions if you need. I had completed the Ophthalmic Career progression program at home and then learned all the flash cards. To me the test seemed easy, very familiar with what I had seen on the cards, of course some things on the test make you confused and I did not get it all right but my results were still pretty good. I never took the NCLE. I tool the ABO in New York, not sure if the one from Florida is the same style though...Good luck to you!

I have not used the NAO's Basic Optician's Tutorial, but I was amazingly well prepared for the ABO-AC test this weekend by studying mainly the Advanced Optician's Tutorial.

The prep courses offered were top notch and definitely helped too.

                Thanks Diane!!!!

Thanks. We used the Advanced Opticians Tutorial to begin the process of using the test analysis for writing the books. I think that way the information is "there". The Basic Opticians Tutorial follows the same process as does the Beginning Your Life as a Contact Lens Technician.

As for you:) I expect that you will pass. You are one of the newest/brightest.:)

                      Resurrecting this old one...

Diane - I can't find the "Getting Back to the Basics for Contact Lens Technicians" on the NAO website. Is it still available?

Also, I used the Advanced Optician's Tutorial to prepare for the Advanced and it was GREAT! It was my sole study material and I passed with flying colors! I highly recommend it to anyone preparing for the Advanced.

Sorry not to get back sooner...been off OB a few days. Teaching school takes a lot of time. I just went on the website and it's listed. You made me look:) Anyway, the site is new so go to http://www.nao.org/exam%20prep/ncle/examprepncle.html

                        Thanks for your kind words.
