Erie Community College, I am fairly certain, is the first and oldest. If my fading memory serves me well it started around 1947 or 48. I think Ferris (no longer in operation- early 50s) is next, Miami-Dade (late 60s?) and Durham Tech, which begain in 1970. Again, this is from memory, but I think it is accurate. Someone correct me if not, please.

Erie County Technical Institute admitted its first class in 1947 and is my choice as well. In addition to Ferris another school no longer in business, Worcester Industrial Technical Institute, started in 1960.

    Yes, Erie is the original.

Hillsborough Community College was started by Dr. Norman Ross in Tampa, before Miami Dade, I believe...I thought HCC was the first opticianry program in the Southeast...must check records.

    : )

Worcester Tech was aswesome, the great work of Chuck Walsh and others,

Sorry, Laurie. You may just be right. Remember.......I am old! I thought that Hillsborough came after Durham.
