I was wondering what the consensus was for the best polarized optics available? My vote goes to Kaenon.

Serengeti should also be in there
Its ok!.....I work at an independant!....and no, thats NOT on sale.
For Rx work, Younger's NuPolar is the best.

I think the ones that I sell made with frames by Danyang Scheshuan Optical and Brick Company and lenses by Ithcywon, Gleeko and Svenson are the best.
We use NuPolar lenses for our Rx lenses. One of the few upsides of the retail place I work at.
We've had great success with MJ, both Rx and plano. Other than RayBan (which i don't carry) I've never seen a more brand loyal following. Once someone buys a Maui, they won't have anything else. (at least down here).
What, no Xperio? :p
NuPolar rocks! MJ's are the best lense "package" I've seen in a plano sun.

NuPolar!!! GRey, Green, Brown, Drivewear, whatever NuPolar puts out works for me!
I came, I saw, I left
Oakley used the image NuPolar for a while as well don't know if they still do or not but at one point it was one of their offerings. I consider NuPolar the gold standard in polar lenses. Widest availability in materials as well.
I just noticed that Maui Jim is the overwhelming winner in the vote for best optics, yet they use poly as the number 1 lens? How can the poly bashing crowd pick the least favorite material?
The question as I read it was to pick the best overall product in plano and RX across the complete offering.
The Maui Jim Evolution lens that is digitial is a great product and is almost identical to Kaenon; they use the same software to process but Maui is 1.6 index vs 1.56 for Kaenon.
But the glass is not really availble in MJ and the poly is the best selling lens in the line. Kaenon puts the best lens in every job and it does not matter if it is a plano or RX; you get the same quality across the collection.
I am just amazed at the winner from a group of opticians. I would like to see the reasons that the specific brands were chosen to get a deeper understanding of the selling mindset of sunglasses.

Maui Jim's patented backside A/R is designed to filter out shortwave blue light and increase contrast... and although they use Nupolar made lenses Maui has them use a higher quality polarized filter. In addition, Maui uses prism wrap compensation even in their plano eyewear.
I would have voted for Revo H2O until Luxottica ruined their lenses with cheap knock-offs.
How could you include SunCloud on this list (a "budget" offering in the kindest of terms), and NOT include the NXT "APST" technology from PPG/Intercast? One hopes that the ECP is the remaining beacon of light out there helping the hapless consumer sort through the polarized alternatives out there.....bh
Kaenon without a doubt in my mind and I carry Oakley, RayBan, Kaenon, Maui Jim and Costa. My recent Rx suns are a Kaenon Copper lens w/ flash mirror in a TAGHeuer Kimi Aviator, a Kaenon Beacon in C12 and a Maui Jim Stingray in Maui Rose because I do really like the rose tint for inshore fishing. Kaenon lenses are awesome!!
The non glare on the back of the lens will not make any difference to the wearer, it is just a non-glare coating and anyone will work about the same.
The Nupolar process did use the MJ film from the plano so they are the same, but the process is what is really important. If they were so happy with Nupolar than why do they not use that technology for the best lens offered- the Evolution?
Have you tried the to wear the plano MJ, they are poor at best! I put people in the poly MJ and then try on the Evolution, if price is not the issue they all pick the better optics.
Don't accept the MJ BS as fact or you will also tell me that Varilux is the only lens to use.

I'm suprised Kaenon didn't get more votes. Higher abbe value than poly, similar shatter resistant property, and higher index than trivex. Comes in a digitally produced design for PALs as well.
MJ = Riverboat
Kaenon = Yacht
Seriously, among the yachting community Kaenon is a widely known and respected brand.
Here goes twice for Kaenon.
You need to try them on and look through them...then vote...a lot of the MJ fans will probably change your minds. Kaenon #1
I have a GREAT Polarized sun line called SALT. THE INDEPENDENT OPTICS COMPANY this line is FANTASTIC!!! They have a great story EXCELLENT customer service and their product flies off the shelf even tho the price point is high. They have patented (PFV) Prism Free Vision with a decentered polarized lens, a great AR coat, excellent craftsmanship, and they are one of the only manuf. that I know of that has beautiful gradient polarized lenses. We have had the product for about a year and not one bad thing to say.
