For 25 years, Optical Training Institute has provided ABO-NCLE approved continuing education courses and exam prep courses for Opticians.
Not all of these are free, but it's a good start. I get most of my CE's out of 20/20 magazine or whatever other trade mags I get at work (Eyecare Business I think is the other one that includes them). Because of family and simple lack of time, I don't get to go to "sponsored" local classes or Expo. :( But how much easier does it get than to take an open-book test and mail it in?It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.

If you're like me, you can hit up all of the current 2020mag free CE courses in about two hours, and complete your requirements. Right now they have fourteen free courses, with some expiring early November. New ones are added at the rate of about one every two months (free) or one a month (fee).
They don't really teach you much, however, so I feel a bit dirty using them to complete my credit quota.
