Sub-leasing at LensCrafters location in Ontario

Hi, I'm a relatively new grad and I'm looking into sub-leasing a LensCrafters location. I've already been in contact w/ the area's reps and looking into a location that may be available. I know they require a business plan and such. Any tips on what they look for specifically, tips on pros/cons of doing a sublease vs starting a private practice, etc? Any help would be great!

I would suggest you look over one of their contracts before seriously considering entering into a master-servant relationship with them.

Business plan? Ha! Very simple, be open 7 days a week, take every single walkin. While it can be very lucrative, I would caution you to be very careful.

Don't forget dealing with their "frame stylists," had one just last week try to tell me they couldn't do a 4.50 add in a bifocal...??? Right, they couldn't? Or just didn't want to...

I agree with Oedema...pretty much at their beckoned call and long 'retail' hours - evenings and weekends. Also, once you build up your patient list and experience and want to spread your wings (no pun), the non-compete and geographical territory rights clause(s) kick in.

On a side note, what type are you flying?

Any idea how big their non-compete area is?

I haven't flown in a few years, but i did my training in a cessna 150, kept the cost down. =) I'll get back on it soon, i hope.

Good luck and keep me posted. Wonder if we could squeeze a mini Orbis into a C172?
