    Telephone Companies!

I made a call yesterday to inquire about the price of their internet service (Verizon). I was strong armed by the representative into a 15-minute disortation (sp?) of the features and benefits I was living without and simply must have.

I explanined to her repeatedly that I did not need call-waiting, three-way calling, call forwarding and an extended local calling area to areas of VA I have never been and don't know anyone! The kicker was to add these features it was going to raise my phone bill $7 a month in order for me to save $7 on the internet service! I had to tell her 7 times that I didn't need the services unless there would be no increase in my bill.

The best part of all was as I finally got it across to her I wasn't going to do it, she gave me another number I had to call to get the internet information I requested initially!

Is it just me or is my friendly local telephone representative becoming a telemarketer. I really felt like she was pressuring me!

    Angry Ridiculous

I feel bad for the customer service reps being required to do this. They must get an earfull all the time!

    Angry Sprint does it too

I have Sprint call me at my office and tell me they want to save me money. I already use a 500 minute a month at $20 and they were going to tack on another $10 to save me money. Great savings eh. Then they won't quit talking. I finally slam down the receiver to get rid of them.

The phone companies are the worst telemarketers of all.

How many times can you offer "the lowest" long distance rates?

    Thumbs down Caller ID

Now is this another big gimmick or what?
They make this sale's pitch to people while knowing full well that alot of them do not realize that anyone calling you can have their i.d. blocked.

    Cox options

Cindy...we use Cox Cable Modem, Cox Cable Television and just signed up for Cox Phone. Because we use all three, the phone rate is only $23 and change per month. What a deal.

    Question Jackie

Does the $23 cover long distance? What are you paying for the cable modem? I have Time Warner Road Runner and it costs me about $45/month.

Jackie, here in the beautiful town of Chester we don't have Cox cable, but another cable service provider that offers the internet DSL at about $45 per month. Maybe Cox is close enough I can use them! :0)

I am really getting sick of the lack of customer service with my current internet provider AOL. Not to mention the SPAM! I think they are selling my address to internet porn sites! I once went to a gardening chat room and have paid the price since! I am really getting sick of it! Time for a change!

    cah2020,
Don't they have any kind of "spam" filter? It would seem to me for the amount of money that you pay to have AOL they could do something about receiving unwanted email.
