Okay so we stopped taking Davis back in FEB. We started having issues getting ahold of CS, as soon as we would put in our provider number the phone system would hang up on us. Okay so I got around that by calling the provider services number and having them transfer me over to OE. So I have been having a hard time getting ahold of anyone to check on the status of a warranty job we went in. I finaly got someone on the phone today, she tells me the order has not been recived by the lab. I keep my fax logs for davis and my UPS shipping lables. So after I her that she tells me that the lenses are not going to be covered under scratch warranty, even though the lab slip says scratch warranty order and teflon coating right on it. We are sending a nasty letter to Davis, the NY insurance commision and then to the patient. I mean WTH!

If EVERYONE dumped Davis, where would Davis end up?
Scrounging in the gutter.
I've never had any interest in carrying Davis. Not too keen on the idea of having to have a separate board of their frames.
I received a pair of lenses from Davis' Philadelphia lab a few months ago where one lens was for my patient and the other was clearly for a completely different person. Massively different powers (one plus, one minus), two different progressive styles, one clear one A/R, and one Transitions one clear. The CS agent I spoke to shared the hilarity and disbelief with me. The replacement lens they sent was also for a completely other patient. Same deal: totally off power, wrong progressive.
This is the example I always think of when I try to define "incompetence."
Hey! Oh, thought you were talking about me for a minute. Never mind.
Update: We dropped them and had all of our Fed employees switch to VSP. We took a hit for a bit but it was worth it. I also did not even post at the time that all of our designer frames would go "missing" they wanted you to buy a replacement and send it to them. Then it would take months and man power of calling to get them to credit us. ERRRG. Drop them like a bad habit. A national chain was the only place that took them in our town....we got the patients back.

I finally got a job from Davis that came in 'right' the first time. PD was only 4mm wide and axis was only off 4 degrees OU.
It is such a great feeling to be able to call a patient after only a month wait to let them know the glasses are ready and not have to send them back for another 6 weeks.
By far the best quality I have seen from them in the 18 months we've been providers.
Now we'll see how long the streak lasts.
A lack of planning on your part DOES NOT constitute an emergency on mine!
It's because workers got some nice vacation time while on strike!
I am still waiting on a job from last year......
Holy Crap! To be fair we get 5-7 uncut jobs from their Plainsview lab a month, very seldom is there an issue. Perhaps its because we control the finished product I dunno. I guess we're lucky their not big down here, my only gripe is waiting a week to receive stock lenses (in the envelopes) that are just different enough from the ones I stock that I can't rotate them into mine and have the pt wearing glasses same day.
I used to read the "why I hate__________" threads for the entertainment value. Now though, it's almost like reading a blog of someone who repeatedly (purposely) slams their fingers in their car door, and then posts, " Help! I hate the pain of my fingers being slammed by the car door!"
And you are doing that why?

they use to call me and try to get me to carry Davis. I thought about it for a month. My Dr was like please no. I am glade I didn't do it.
