Exclamation Wanted: frames for woman with 77mm PD

A woman walked into our practice recently looking for stylish frames for some new progressive lenses she needed. She has a darker complexion and wants something nuetral, but not black. Nosepads are a must and she has a very flat bridge. Full or semi-rimless is ok as long as we have at least 30mm+ for a B measurement. (I'd prefer 35 or more but she also has a fuller face and I worry about her cheeks hitting the frame.) She has a 77mm PD, and she wants the temples to go as straight back as possible. The only frames I've found that remotely would work are mens frames.

As a side note,I would love to do a drill as we could adjust the lens size to fit her but I worry about having adjustment issues. She has very thick wiry hair and a lightweight drill would get lost. I'm willing to do a drill as long as the frame is more substantial.

Does anyone know of a company or line that has frames for the larger woman? I've looked and looked and all that seems to exist are mens or sunglasses. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

    Holly

    WOW

I think the only thing you will find is a mens frame. Unless you do a custom frame.

There are quite a few substantial drills out there. I'd start with the LightTechs. What I like most about them is they seem to hold their adjustments better than the Sil, and they have better styling.

check into the charmant line arts, they have thicker temples and just make the lens whatever size you need. I praise these things the xl 2000 shape is wide and if you make it wider than the factory size the b would be suitable.

Getting in the ballpark for a regular frame.
The drillmount is a good idea, just be sure to use a pattern that will scale up correctly.

There's even some XXL models that might be suitable for her.

I have quite a few ladies that love the Jhane Barnes line, even if it is a "mens" collection. They also have some more substantial drills in it, and when Sarah Palin was popular, we often used one of the Integral series as a chassis to duplicate the look.

Not sure if CoverGirl still has their collection that was aimed at some of the larger and ethnic faces.

Have you looked at A&A Optical's XXL line of frames? There are many that would work well for women, too.

Silhouette has a line called Dimension that has temples that go straight back and the temples are about 5mm thick.

Menicci Eyewear has a line called Biggu that is made for men and women (mostly women I think) with large pds.

I have looked into the Menizzi Biggu frames and there are some options there. Some of the lines for other vendors that have been suggested are great but are not companies our practice orders with. Thank you for all of the suggestions!! I'm definitely going to suggest a drill with more substantial temples and some of the other frames as well. I appreciate all the feedback!!!
