    Damaged frame ?

Customer came in with a CHANEL zyl. frame whe purchased about 3 weeks ago. The frame has noticeable white-ish type blotches on the temples. She thinks it was defective and she didn't notice when purchased. She had recently taken it to another place for an adjustment and she says they rubbed the frame down with alcohol. Standard 70% rubbing alcohol to clean it. They told her that is an industry standard to clean frames and they take no responsibility for the damage. Would the alcohol really cause these blotches? What are the realities of cleaning with 70% Isopropyl alcohol?

I have never Zyl react to Alcohol. It wouldn't surprise me if they used Acetone.

Alcohol doesn't always react to zyl... But heated zyl will definitely react to alcohol like the way you're describing, especially on a black frame.

You can easily just polish it away with some compound.
