I felt like a real optician today

Our pupilometer crapped out, so I whipped out my trusty Hilco PD stick (thanks, Opticianworks.com!) and carried on. Dog knows I didn't get training for that from Lux, so it's thanks to you folks here that I had the knowledge and confidence to continue taking care of patients.

    Thanks, guys!

    Don't know if it's mentioned...

...but if you use a penlight and measure the reflections, you can be much more accurate.

i always use my trusty ruler...does that make me old school? haha For some reason im more accurate with it believe it or not. For some reason I cant see lines or focus in on certain things with glasses or contacts (Been to every specialist and tried everything, they all tell me im crazy) and my eyes are so bad i cant see the lines in the pupilometer without my glasses.

your going to all laugh but I got my 'PD' stick from my kids left over school supplies. Simple 6" ruler, inches one side, MM on the other (its Pink too:hammer:). Don't know why I haven't ordered one... wait... yes I do, I'm cheap. But those seg height measuring things your slip in the eyewire? priceless!

Other than the first set of training disks required. Nice work with the PD stick though, takes confidence. I hope the customer was assured in the procedure!

This is how I measure for progressives, a penlight and a marker.
