Davis Vision Donates 50,000 Eyeglass Frames to Aid VOSH In Delivering Vision Care to Those in Need
PLAINVIEW, NY. (December 15, 2009) - Many people in the United States and around the world simply cannot afford the cost of proper vision care. Since 1971, The Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity (or VOSH) has changed the lives of millions by providing free vision care and services to those who are in need and without access to eye care.
In support of VOSH's mission, vision benefits company, Davis Vision, donated 50,000 eyeglass frames to help tens of thousands of people around the world see more clearly. The frames, valued at nearly $4 million, will be paired with corrective lenses to improve the vision of many in the U.S., Honduras and Kenya who would not otherwise have access to eye care.
Jeffrey Marshall, O.D., President of VOSH-Indiana, gratefully accepted the frames from Tom Davis, Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer of Davis Vision. "We are so thankful to Davis Vision for their kind donation," said Dr. Marshall. "In 2010, we have a mission going to Honduras and a mission going to Nairobi, Kenya, and we also help support a full-time clinic located in San Pedro Sula, Honduras." Dr. Marshall states that a typical one-week VOSH-Indiana eye care mission provides eye care to nearly 4,000 people, who walk away with "a new outlook on the world."
"We're very pleased that our outreach efforts can assist with the mission of these organizations, and more important, spread awareness on the importance of providing services to all populations," said Tom Davis, of Davis Vision....................................
