Anyone familiar with Essilor Ideal lenses?

I've received some pricing for these lenses from my Essilor lab. They appear to be free form and are quite pricey. I've never heard of them before and assume that they must be based on another branded freeform design with the brand name removed. The pricing appears to be similar to what I pay for established freeform brands such as Seiko superseded, Shamir Autograph, Reveal. The Ideal lenses also appear to be packaged with the various Essilor AR coatings.

According to the Power Point presentation I got from Essilor, it IS a full backside surfaced free form progressive. Essilor actually did come up with their own design for it, and just like all lens manufacturers, they say that their design is better than everyone elses....

I would stick with the brands you're currently using.

There are rules. Knowing those are easy. There are exceptions to the rules. Knowing those are easy. Knowing when to use them is slightly less easy. There are exceptions to the exceptions. Knowing those is a little more tricky, and know when to use those is even more so. Our industry is FULL of all of the above.

So what's the difference between Ideal and Ideal Advanced?

The Ideal Advanced tailors the lens design to individual Rx requirements. So the baseline Ideal uses a more generic lens design, whereas the Ideal Advanced is more customized for the individual wearer.

And why have Ideal and Ideal Advanced? Why not just offer the Advanced and be done with it. This gets annoying. Is this just a "re-marketed" Physio and Physio 360 situation? And in the case of the advanced, what additional information will be used? Same as others being pantoscopic tilt, panoramic frame wrap, and vertex distance?

    Love 'em

I had a chance to wear the Ideal lens for couple months now, and love it!
With a 250 add and mild distant Rx, this is the widest periferal vision I've had yet. Plenty of reading room, my 17 hi fit does offer a little less intermediate, but works for me. Design distortion is amplified in smaller area down and outwards where I do not even pick it up. I can even read all road signs without turning my head.
Side note, I see most of the back side "free form" designs getting closer to similar performance. I beleive increased patient satisfaction will become more reliant on Optician fitting skills. Too bad pricing is baracading many from even trying this technology.
