There is no general time requirement to take the ABO. The state in which you reside, if it uses it as their licensure exam, may require 3 years. It takes very little to actually take it. The same is true for NCLE. Each used to require a year of experience. I would review the ABO/NCLE site for those requirements:

yea you are right 3 years for the state exam. not the ABO.
