    Holiday hours/sales

What kind of Holiday hours do you keep, and do you run any specials.

We expect most of our boost to come from our end of the year insurance and flex-plan users.

We are closed Christmas Eve, Christmas, and New Years Day. We are open on New Years Eve, we are always busy that day with last minute people trying to get stuff with their flex money or under their insurance for the year.

We're open the day before Thanksgiving and it's a late night which is always aggravating when you have to go home late and start cooking for the next day. We'd probably be open Christmas Eve except the only one that is willing to be there is the lab guy and he can't run the store so we're closed. New Year's Eve is a half day generally but the day after the holiday can be very busy because the students are home from college.

fri and sat after thanksgiving are "college student" days. For many it's the first weekend back and over 50% of the schedule is that population.

    Depends on the office situation......

You won't find one clear cut answer. I am in a professional practice and the office will be closed from wed noon till following monday. Thats ok by me but if I were retail optical on the street or in a shopping center, I would be taking advantage of the busiest shopping day of the year. Anyone in that situation who is closed, needs to re-evaluate the reason they are in business in the first place.

After being open for 8 years on the day after Thanksgiving and doing NO business...I re-evaluated! And came to the conclusion that I'd be better off, enjoying time with my family!
At my previous employment, the day after Thanksgiving was our very busiest day of the year...so, go figure!

We are closed thurs through tuesday (normally closed mondays anyway) for thanksgiving

    same for christmas

    closed friday-tues for new years

we are expecting an increase for insurance, mostly because we are seeing quite a few companies locally that will no longer offer VSP begining next year, so as people are figuring that out they are coming in for everything they can.

Not as much flex traffic so far, but hopefully we see that jump in dec.

the holidays are always a tough time of year, can never tell where peoples minds will be. if we are closed we will wish we were open, if we are open we will wish we were closed (financially at least)

i will enjoy the break though

Closed pretty much every Holiday + 2 days for Christmas and Thanksgiving. Oh how I love working for a University! (plus no weekends. EVER)

Love is a duet, each voice complementing each other and making them sound better than they would alone, each voice at times stepping back and letting the other shine. We've got a pretty good duet going Tina, 1 year and counting.
