I'm paying extra for Comcast's faster cable speeds so this is a bit slower than it should be.

I'm running through a router though, I wonder if that affects anything?

Jacqui, it's a beautiful thing. Dh and I decided we valued our time and so we pay extra to hop on get what we need then get to the projects rather than sign in to dial up, get in the car, go to the library, check out the info we need, come home, and still be waiting for the home page to load. :D

It means you have a very fast connection. The ping is the amount of time it takes for a signal to get from your place to the server that does the test.

Most phone companies can not overcome the barrier of 52 k, no matter what kind of dial-up modem you have. Also remember that you share a line that is sending information back and forth to the page you are trying to view. In short, even if you have a 56k modem to connect your speed is less than 52k.
