    shamir creation vs. shamir genesis

    hello,
does anyone have experience using these lenses. i have a drilled rimless job which needs to be in 1.67 w/22 mm ht.

i usually use the definity pal and like it very much. any comparison to either of these shamir lenses?

    any info. is much appreciated.
    thanks in advance,
    betsy

    re: Shamir

You can get Shamir's first-generation lens, the Element (formerly the Autograph) for nearly the same price. It comes in two versions, short (16mm min. height) and long (19mm min. fitting height). I've had very good success with the dozen or so I've fit.

    Follow the Shamir

I did NOT like the Element Short. No real experience with the Element "long".

To clarify the post above, the Element is Shamir's first generation full back surface digital progressive.

The Creation is the final iteration of their "digital mold" molded progressive (progressive on front surface, Rx on back). I used TONS of the Creation with great success!

The Genesis is/was an older lens design, that I never liked much. It has been upgraded to a digital mold recently, and I cannot comment on the current version, although I believe the Creation is still a more advanced lens.

Now, I use the Autograph II variable (Shamir's newest back surface digital progressive), and it blows all of the above out of the water, but at considerably greater cost. Personally, I would choose the creation over the Element, unless the Rx was a high cyl. Others will likely disagree ;)
