Actually with today's Slit-lamps that take pictures and digital video, there must be some instructional video out there somewhere. If not, Some instructors and teaching institutions should get on the ball right now. Probably most people working in teaching clinic would get enough footage in a week for a course. All it would need is some editing and naration. This would be a great way to present a course and go around the country feeling important.
No end of meetings one could go to and lecture while pushing the video.

I know of a flash applet that let's you play with the slitlamp around without torturing people with a bright light.

However it's used to measure the Rx of the eye, not the examine the eye.

I'll have to look it up, but Alcon has such a simulator.

Searching... searching... AH! There it is!

http://www.alconinstitute.com you can find al sorts of educational simulations and documents.

Go here: http://www.alconinstitute.com/ia.asp Click on "Simulators", "Pathology" and then "Diagnostic tests" There you see "Retinoscopy Simulator"

    I hope that helps you!

    You're welcome!

You know, knowing how to use a slitlamp really gives you an edge in the store.
Here in Holland, as far as I can tell, using a slitlamp isn't very common and only used for refraction by an ortoptician on children or elderly unable to communicate or understand a "regular" refraction.

I am currently looking for a slitlamp to learn this. We get people in store wich we cannot refract because they simply don't speak the language (immigrants). We have to send them away.
If someone is able to use a slitlamp for refraction we also refract them. Just because they don't speak the language doens't mean they have to go without good vision.

But it leaves us with one problem. If we can refracte them without talking, how are we going to make the sale...

    Note:
In english, the term "slit lamp" refers to a "biomicroscope" to examine the structure of the eye.

The term "retinoscope" or "skiascope" refers to a hand-held instrument to perform "retinoscopy" or "skiametry" to obtain "objective refraction". I think this is what you refer to.
