    Dispensing German Optician

my name is Susanne Parker and im 24 years young.
I am moving from Germany to NC ( Cumberland Area ) by November ( with my husband ( AirForce) and our Daughter.

I've been working in the industry for 8 years. ( incl. 3 years Apprenticeship )
I received my apprenticeship diploma 2004.
Since 2005 i am workin as an Optician.
Currently i am in parental leave. Before I worked 6 days a week around 50 hours.
I refract, repair frames, teached new trainee's and train new CL wearers. I am specialised in Sport Optics.
I called ABO and they told me already that i cant use my diploma and that i have to start all over again ( apprenticeship or school ) but i love my job and the work with customers so much that i am ready.

Please feel free to contact me if interested in seeing my resume or have any questions.

    Regards,

    Susanne Parker

You may want to petition the NC State Board of Opticianry to see if they will allow you to sit for the state board exam. However, they may require you to take the ABO and NCLE exams before sitting for the exam. If you do have to take the ABO and NCLE, I'm sure you will pass, they're not that hard. Don't waste time; Try to get to your license ASAP. However, if you work on a military base, you are not required to have a state license. Good luck!
