    A favorite gripe.

Anyone else have problems with frame manufacturers that can't or won't keep reps? Some of which won't allow frames to be returned without the rep's signature. Then when they finally secure a new rep. you find you have discontinued frames that cannot be returned (and no they don't give you a list of frames being discontinued so you could attempt to exchange them) ?

Are you listening out there Luxottica (especially Giorgio reps) and Logo? Are you listening other manufactures?

And no I don't find any solace in the new rep (who doesn't usually last very long) telling me how sorry he is that I am stuck with these turkeys but he had nothing to do with it.

    Chip:

Have you contacted the regional sales managers in any of these cases ? I had the same thing happen w/logo, and they stepped in and took the frames back, and I made sure that they didin't charge it against the new reps commission. Usually the new reps are allowed an extremely high return ratio in the "purging period".
I actually enjoy seeing a new rep, because they are usually eager to get the realtionship off to a new start by doing a good deed. If they can't, I explain how sorry I am that I won't be doing business with them any longer.

Chip, you have surprised me. I so thought this was going to be your gripe about doctors selling glasses. :)

    New gripe:

Frame manufacturers that take returns, bill for new orders and exchanges right away, but don't issue credit on returns for 90 days, often only then after a good deal of fussing.

If you pay on date of invoice, you end up with a credit ballance which for all practical purposes must be spent where the credit exists. Getting a checko out of these people for a credit ballance is near impossible.

    Chip:

How about adding this to your gripe list:

Frame companies that send cases w/ the frames that are the size of Samsonite luggage. Fifty frames weigh about 1/4 lb, but the cases weigh about 30 lbs,!! Then, if you need to return the frame, you've got to send the huge case back, or they charge you $6-10 !! I called Marchon (Flexon) & Elite (Smart Clips) and told them to keep their cases, but they still send them. The cases are so large that the frames just bounce around insde of them anyway. The shipping charges are enough to choke a horse!!

    Here's one for you.

Our lens supplier made a couple of mistakes last week. We ordered a pair of Poly Aspheric SV lenses ($9.98), the distributor's hand written customer service order sheet showed the same product. We were sent Poly Aspheric SV lenses with hard coated AR ($60.00+/-) and those were the pair we were billed for. We also recieved three lenses that were packaged wrong. The powers we read off the lenses weren't even close to the powers that we had ordered or that were printed on the lens envelopes.

Problems sometimes happen and they sometimes happen one after another. I can understand that. What I can't understand is why upon returning those lenses we were charged a handling fee on top of shipping for their errors or why they counted towards our allowable return percent. (25% returns allowed; if you go over that, you are charged 30% additional handling.)

Next time when they send us the wrong lenses I'm just going to break them before I send them back. At least it will make me feel better for having to pay for their errors. :hammer:

    Hey Chip,

You missed my favorite........how about the frame company that starts their warranty when you are invoiced for the product not when it is actually sold to the consumer

There are a lot of things that are worst than this thread , but let it be known that you have been heard.......now swallow your buying mistakes or get a " 50% off" display built as soon as possible :D

You could always custom color the dogs!!!!!!!!
