Well keep in mind that these college guys are now 20. That means that they will be buying glasses for another 60-80 years. Probably not a bad idea to make them regular clients when they are young. Will be far more difficult 20 years from now

My quotable uncle Ron said, once, that "college is prolonged childhood".
I think he had something, there.
Begin with the greeting, "Say Word Son," followed by a fist bump. If that fails try a "sup brah", and see how that goes. If they inquire about black frames, point to your display and say, "we got some heady ones right there".
For chunky zyl you might try Kenmarks Republica or Jhane Barnes.

You think you are old, wait til you are still at the grindstone with great grandchildren. Wait til you fit the forth generation of the same family in contacts.

I blame their mom's, those moms who babied them as long as they could. Who STILL wish they could baby them. All those mom's who miss having their little boy at home and are sad he's growing up... they keep making appointments, filling out paperwork, tagging along to meetings, etc... and this is what comes of it!! We have tons of young 20 something's still mooching off their parents money and/or insurance. And then if they DO show up alone they have no money!
Our office decided to unlink any person over 18 yrs old from their parents in the computer system, this way we always get their signatures and they get the bill in THEIR names.
There's nothing wrong with them that two years in the military before college wouldn't cure.

I especially think the skull on the temple fits the "look"
REFUSE THEIR SERVICE!!!?? You've got to be kidding me!
These are the types of patients that make a good day a great day.
Spoiled "kids" that their MOMMY's are afraid won't be pleased? Heck find them a frame, triple the price, and everybody's happy.
Refuse their service. We get paid handsomely to deal with these babies!

What really ticks me off is that when you go about your business because they can't respond to "Hi, May I help you?" and when they finally end their call they get all huffy because you're not standing there at their beck and call and they might have to wait a second or two :angry::angry: Or, the ones who walk up with a blue tooth and you can't tell who the heck they're talking too, and they look at you like you're an idiot because you would like for them to pick a conversation and stick with it!!
Ok...I feel better now...rant over...I'll now return to you to our regularly scheduled posts

I live in a town with not one but three colleges: a community college, a liberal arts college, and a university. The students from the college bought some of the fugliest frames we have, while the university students have bought some of the more basic metal ones. The community college students tend to buy frames for their practicality (i.e. spring hinges, flex frames, etc). Of course, these are sweeping generalizations, but at least in the case of the college, three of the most hideous frames I have ever seen and which I thought would never sell went out with those college students.
I think CC students are more likely to to work while they go to school, so they realize cost and value a little more, whereas the other students, who obviously aren't paying their $30-40,000 bill, are hesitant to commit to any price.
If memory serves, most of the black zyl frames I've sold went to high school students.
I'm still working on "college aged male". When I was in college, Vance Packard was just making people aware that there was such a thing as demographics and that the retail and marketing people used such things to sell, sell, sell...whether we needed it or not. At that time, a "college aged male" was either IN college working like hell to stay there, or looking at the possibility of getting a letter from his "friends and neighbors" (i.e. draft board for those too young to remember) and a one way ticket to 'Nam.
Oh yeah, that was one way to get a black zyl frame, 'cause that's all Uncle Sugar issued back then.
We've come a long way, baby!
See, 64 year old guys can talk hip, cool, whatever.
Have a great day. I'll be in the lab (away from people) if you need me.
Who took my coffee?

Bart Smith, continuing to be awesome since 1982 so that you don't have to.
Love is a duet, each voice complementing each other and making them sound better than they would alone, each voice at times stepping back and letting the other shine. We've got a pretty good duet going Tina.
On April 28th, I'll be marrying my best friend. I can't wait!
Wondered why my coffee was turning red!!!!!!!!!

Well I think you're about on target, there, Shanbaum.
I've brought in some of that stuff.
You'll be especially glad to know that I see beards are coming back in with these guys, as well.
I guess that's why you have one?
