    Varilux Sport

Anyone tried the new Varilux Sport yet?
I'm waiting to fit patients with this until I hear some feedback.
Sounds like it would be great for 8 base wraps, but I'm concerned about it having such a narrow intermediate zone for my pt's that use their suns for driving, cell phones etc.

I'm doubtful that any high base curve PAL will ever offer a wide enough corridor to accommodate most (if any) sports.

Sounds like a marketing strategy to me and nothing more.

I agree about the marketing point. I've thought that this might be a lens using some of the wrap tech from KbCo since Essilor bought them out... Xperio, Varilux Sport...
I'm gonna stick with my rule of 6 Base and no more for my PALs.

I'm sure it will have as much success as the B&L sport contacts did. (None)

Well, I can guarantee you that Autograph Attitude 8 got a very wide corridor, and with absolutely no adaptions issue at all. We are selling 15-25 pairs Autograph Attitude at day, and had never heard anything different. We always hear that this progressive lens is nothing but fantastic.

Great endorsement. I bet Autograph also signs your paycheck.

As a wholesaler of Shamir lenses I only tell you my own experience with this lens. The non adapts is very close to zero, or at least the same as normal Autograph.

    Paycheck??? I wish.....

Just an FYI- Varilux Sport is not available in a wrap option. Its a pretty simple concept. The distance zone is very large, with smaller intermediate and near zones. You can read your watch, score card, etc. out of the lens, but you wouldn't want to read War & Peace. Additionally, there are five or six colors available (most are polarized).

PS- I work in Essilor of America's marketing department, so they definitely do sign my paychecks. I can offer no personal testimonial of the performance (I'm not quite presbyopic yet), but I've heard positive things from people who have worn the lens.

    Sport Lenses

If you want to do a PAL in 8 base with an optics of 5 or 3 base you can go for NOVA sport lenses. In India it's brand name is Nova Sport. It's a freeform progressive of SEIKO design available in 6 to 8 base in all meterial and tint. I dispensed many sport lenses with a good feedback

THat's the problem with Essilor... They have this SPORT lens and now a GOLF lens that can't be wrapped... What's the point? Autograph Attitudes are FANTASTIC! I wish I collected a paycheck from Shamir but, alas, they jus thelp me sell more lenses. Check out the new Sola HDV wrap too (to be non-partisan). Ask your Zeiss rep about them...

Not from me however. I'm a PAL wearer and I struggled with the attitude. I tried other PALs, and then in the end, tried SV Smart attitude, and struggled with that as well !! 8 base lenses (unfortunately) are not for me. By all means recommend the lens as the best of the rest, but be wary about overselling it's attributes.

Okay your right, but what I mean was that the non adaption is just the same as all other special products.
Did you get the lenses analyzed for errors?

The lenses were fine, it was the wearer that's the problem :bbg:

These contacts actually did improve contrast for baseball. I put my son in them for high school baseball and he said the ball looked like a volleyball ! I was watching the Detroit Tigers a few months after that when the announcers commented that that everyone on the team was wearing those contacts, even planos. I think I know why they didn't sell. it was way too easy to just order free samples and in my son's case, those easily lasted for the relatively few times he needed them. I don't know what the major league players wear now but I'm sure they can get custom lenses.
