Way too many influential people passing away this year.

Very Sad, Les Paul was a great man and as the article says, the cornerstone of modern music.
When I was a teen, I used to dream of one day owning a Les Paul. I owned several copies through the years but never the real thing. It was always way out of reach on my old lab tech salary.
I finally caught a break in 1995, I sold all my copies and other guitars and used my tax refund to purchase an ebony 1969 Gibson Les Paul Custom Black Beauty. I think I will change out the strings tonight and give her a nice polish.

    R.I.P. Les Paul

    Somewhere there's music........

    "Somewhere theres music
    How faint the tune
    Somewhere theres heaven
    How high the moon
    There is no moon above
When love is far away too
    Till it comes true
That you love me as I love you

    Somewhere theres music
    How near, how far
    Somewhere theres heaven
    Its where you are
    The darkest night would shine
If you would come to me soon
Until you will, how still my heart
    How high the moon

    Somewhere theres music
    How faint the tune
    Somewhere theres heaven
    How high the moon
    The darkest night would shine
If you would come to me soon
Until you will, how still my heart
    How high the moon"

Not written by Les Paul but he and Mary Ford did it best!
Apologies to you Ella Fitzgerald fans....she came in second best!

A great innovator. Music would not be the same without him. RIP Mr. Polfuss.

I've owned a couple LPs, but I'll show my favorite:

Oooh, white pearl. And a leftie!

All I have is some cheap no-name copy with bad binding and some mildew damage.(I inherited it from my stepsister who had died in her apartment and not found for weeks)

I really miss my old 1964 Fender Jazz bass though.....

I downloaded sometime ago a compilation of songs played on Les Paul guitars by various artists. It is fabulous. I believe it is from an actual album called Les Paul and Friends a Tribute. If you can find it, it is well worth making a copy.
