I don't remember where I read this, but when touch tone phones first rolled out, the computer systems needed a good solid tone seperated from the previous and next tone by a silence. With so many people, at the time, using 10-key adding machines, the telephone company changed the layout to force people to slow down while dialing.
A lack of planning on your part DOES NOT constitute an emergency on mine!
