Thank you Ian. You and Harry have proved my point.
(1/13/1957) of more Pluto Platters. The next year, the original Frisbie Baking Company shut down and coincidentally Fred Morrison was awarded a patent for his flying disc.
Frisbee officially became a Frisbee in the 50's. The patent will get you everytime. ;)

    For Sean

On OPtiboard , all the optiboarders were given a questionnaire asking whether they approve of how well Steve "runs the show".
Suppose 60 percent of the optiboarders answered the questionnaire, and 55 percent of the 60 percent said they approved of Steve. What is the maximum percent of the entire optiboard population that could approve of Steve?

    Night Train,
Doing this based on todays total members-1,456.

    It would be roughly 48%

    Oops

Sean, I forgot until after I posted that there would be a way to figure this based on the actual number of optiboard users. Lets try this one:

When the Jones family gets together to celebrate Grandpa Jones' birthday, it's an occasion for a double celebration. That's because his favorite little grandson, Georgie, was born on the same day and month, but of course in a different year.
At the most recent party, little George jumped up on his grandpa's lap and said: "Grandpa, how old are you, huh?"

"Well, my little munchkin," answered the elder gentleman, "my age is 750% of your age today." (Grandpa was a sly old guy who knew what he was doing. Georgie had always shown an unusual talent for math in spite of his tender years.)

That satisfied George, who knew his own age, but a neighbor invited to the party did not know it, so she turned to the child and said, "I'd like to know your age, but I need more information, please."

The child rose to the occasion to show off and said: "Well, five years from now the percent that my grandpa's age will be of mine will drop by 250%."

My question to you is this: How old was Grandpa Jones when George was born?

    Wave

    Night Train,
Jeeeeesh...................talk about pulling out all the stops.

Ok here we go...............Grandpa was 52 when george was born. And for the extra point(even though you didn't ask) george turned 8 at the b-day party as well(just in case you would ask me that next).

Where did you ever come up with that one? :shiner:

What proof????Even if I gave you.....

    Dear Partner,

Even if I gave you Frisbee....(which I am NOT),
I would ask you to then delve into the history of Television.....where you would find the name of Vladamir Zworkin who invented the first television in 1923, making the grandmother in her own words, 79 at the minimum!
And while you're researching that, peruse the history of the contact lens, and you will find the first contact lens was made of glass and was a scaleral design. This little feat of magic was done in 1887.Now if the grandmother was born BEFORE the Television was invented, and BEFORE the contact lens was invented, they she's got to have been hanging around for a lot more than 59 years.

Now to my partner I give a nod and a wink,
In the hopes she doesn't find me the weakest link!

    Harry,

Very well done. I concede. You are not the weakest link so I guess you're a keeper.

PS - Congrats on the Patriot's victory. I presume you will be doing some sort of celebrating over there in Mass. today.

    I must be missing something - 55% of 60% of x is 33% of x.

    Cousin Robert.....

    Good Morning Cousin Robert!
I have asked that question of her as recently as 20 min ago in a PM.She's not budging! She responded to every point in my note EXCEPT "how did you come up to 59" If she has decided not to tell us, I can tell you this. She is a TENACIOUS! It grieves me to think I may go to the grave without having that question answered.I think I may have dug in her heels deeper because of the Frisbee thing, and for that I humbly repent.
    best from cousin hj

Big Smile How 'bout those Hartford Patriots?

The rest of the world (that is, outside Hartford County) probably isn't aware of it, but last year, Bob Kraft announced that he was moving the Patriots to Hartford. Of course, all he was really trying to do was extort a new stadium from the citizens of Massachusetts, but Governor Rowland believed him, and got everyone real excited about having an NFL team, even though we couldn't even keep an NHL team from moving to North Carolina, where the only way anyone would be interested in hockey would be if they combined it with wrestling. Uh, anyway, as a result of Kraft's despicable behaviour, the Harford Courant ran an article of Kraft jokes, mostly centered on his greed, one of which I paraphrase here.

Bob parked his new BMW in downtown Hartford, and when he opened the door, another car came along and sheared it clean off.

Bob was moaning to the policeman who arrived about the damage to his beautiful, expensive Beemer, and the policeman said, "you know, Bob, I can't believe that you are so worried about your fancy car that you haven't noticed that your left arm was ripped off along with the door!"

    "Omigod!" Bob exclaimed, "My Rolex!"

Sorry for the late post on this one but I can't seem to come up with any answer except for 73% which of course assumes the entire 40% of optiboarders who did not respond to the questionnaire were all in favor of the job Steve was doing (and why wouldn't they be, after all!). What am I missing?

It's been a bit.... but the curve in the riddle was with the 55% of the 60%( comes out to be just a bit over half of the total members at the time who actually voted) The 40% in the begging of the riddle did not vote, and do not count.
