Hi Everyone,
I am hoping someone can advise me on an issue. We just started a finishing lab. As I stated in a previous post a few days ago I have been having issues with my wholesale lab. Your basic issues, power off a bit, they are not shipping my orders together as requested ect. Last week I received a plastic trifocal with scratch coating. When we checked the RX it was perfect, the only issue was that the lens was dirty and had some spots on the bottom. The spots looked like milky water so I figured most of it would be edged off and it would be fine and it was from the surfacing process.
We cut the lenses, check it and they were perfect. During inspection they looked perfect. After giving them to the patient, the next day they returned them and said the OS had a film on it. It is hard to describe because it is not milky or even to the point that you see it. I moved them all around and at some angles or up against a dark background you can visibly see a small difference between the eyes.
I tried soaking them in lukewarm water and rubbing the lens with a cloth diaper, nothing changed other than when in water the difference was more visible. I also tried washing them and nothing changed. The only large difference is when we used a lens wipe cloth it got a bit better.
My thought is that perhaps it is the scratch coating and I need to call my lab. I am just not sure if this is common or if you guys can shed some light and suggestions.
Thanks!
